iPhone 11- It's an iPhone that's very easy to recommend!

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

Apple has seen what most people want from the iPhone 11. Unless you’re a complete sucker for an OLED display, or particularly want the zoomed telephoto lens, there isn’t much you’re missing out on by not getting the Pro model. Especially when you consider the over £300/$300 saving you’re making.

If you’re coming from an iPhone XR you might want to wait a year and see what the 2020 iPhone brings. However, if you’re updating an older iPhone then you’ll notice the vast array of improvements to camera, battery life and overall design straight away.

A great phone, the iPhone 11 is the default Apple flagship for the next year and it’s worthy of that crown. An excellent camera and strong battery life make this is an easy choice.

The iPhone 11 is the successor to the excellent iPhone XR and it is the best overall iPhone you can buy this year.

The iPhone 12 packs even better cameras, an OLED display and 5G speeds and remains on sale at a reduced cost. The iPhone 13 specs are even more impressive. But the iPhone 11 remains a good phone for those looking to spend less.

With the iPhone 11, you still get a bright and colorful screen, good performance, excellent image quality and long battery life. The only strikes against the iPhone 11 other than the newer phones in Apple's lineup are its skimpy 64GB of storage in the base model and that the fast charger costs extra.

1) Great camera.

2) Long-lasting battery.

3) Really nice colour options.

4) Surprisingly excellent value for an Apple phone.

1) A screen resolution bump would have been nice.

2) Still no fast charger in the box.

3) Dated Design.

Key Specifications:

1) Review Price: £729.

2) 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display.

3) A13 Bionic

4) 64, 128, 256GB storage.

5) 2 x 12 megapixel cameras on the back

6) True Depth 12 megapixel on the front.

7) 5w charger.

8) iOS 13.

How much does the iPhone 11 cost?

Apple is selling the iPhone 11 for $699 in the US, but a much steeper £729 in the UK. See below for the price variations depending on how much storage you need.

iPhone 11: £729 (64GB); £779 (128GB); £879 (256GB)

iPhone 11: $699 (64GB); $749 (128GB); $849 (256GB)

What's your budget? How large a screen do you want and need? Are you happy with a single-lens camera on the back, or is it worth paying extra for twin or triple lenses?

The iPhone 11 is the successor to the popular iPhone XR and it stands as our favourite iPhone you can buy right now,

iPhone 11 takes the iPhone XR, keeps the design virtually unchanged and alters the internals. There are now two cameras on the back, for example, and the same A13 chipset you’ll find in the Pro model.

While I haven't done any scientific tests, anecdotally, I've found that the battery seems to deplete more quickly than I than I was expecting. By the end of a work day, I'm often d own to 30% when I feel like I've barely used my phone all day.

Below we’ll talk about the new iPhone’s camera, display, performance, design and battery life. We’ve been using the iPhone 11 since its release so that’s several months now, and as you would hope it is standing up well.

While £629/$599 could never be described as cheap, the XR's trimmed price is starting to look distinctly appealing. That's a low price for one of Apple's desirable notched-screen handsets, with a big 6.1in display and Face ID facial recognition. You also get the A12 Bionic processor, which has plenty of life left in it.

It has received a number of iOS updates that have sorted a number of early software issues we had with – notably the system-wide search functions properly again – and our review unit hasn’t picked up any obvious dings or dents even though it’s not being used with a case.

There are plenty of similarities between the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. The 11 retains the look of the XR, with that glass back and plenty of colorways available, however it’s now more water-resistant than before. The screen is nice and bright, though a bump in resolution would have been appreciated.

A big upgrade for the iPhone 11 is the new camera. There are two on the back, both packing 12-megapixels, with one taking your standard shots and the other expanding that out into ultrawide shots.

The results are stunning and the 2x telephoto lens is the only real thing missing when you compare this to the pricier Pro model.

Battery life and performance are both excellent, too. You should easily get through the day without reaching for the Lightning cable and there’s wireless charging available too.
