iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: Capture Button

The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are poised to elevate the user experience with innovative features. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, in the latest Power On newsletter, reveals that the iPhone 16 series, scheduled for release in the second half of the next year, will showcase a new "Capture Button."

The iPhone 15 Pro series, released in September, introduced the Action Button, replacing the Mute switch. Apart from adjusting ringer settings, the Action Button offers versatile functionalities such as activating the flashlight, launching the camera, and integrating with the Shortcuts app.

Gurman speculates that the lower-end iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models will inherit the existing Action Button from the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.

While maintaining the iPhone 15's design, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to feature larger displays than their predecessors.

Display industry analyst Ross Young anticipates sizes of 6.3 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, surpassing the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays on the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Anticipated to launch in late 2024, the iPhone 16 series has already generated considerable buzz.

Leaks suggest that the Pro models will boast an A18 Pro Bionic chip on a 3nm process, while the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will house a toned-down version of the A17 Pro chip.

The Snapdragon X70 modem is expected to be retained, with the Pro models featuring Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and the possibility of a new ultra-wide lens on the rear.
