Google restores services for majority of users after global outage!

As Per Downdetector, the service interruptions affected YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, and more starting at roughly 6:30 a.m. ET

Users started to report the services coming back online roughly an hour later. At 8:07 a.m., Google tweeted that the situation was "all clear" — but some users said they were still unable to reach Gmail.

Google has restored its services that were impacted by a widespread outage for users. Thousands of users across the globe took to social media reporting issues with Google services including Gmail and YouTube on Monday evening. Crowdsourced data on Downdetector.com showed that the outage had an impact on every major Google service including its smart home platform Nest.

Various services that rely on Google’s servers, including the game Pokemon Go and messaging platforms Discord, were also affected by the outage according to user complaints on Twitter. Some users, however, managed to discover a workaround that allowed YouTube to work in Chrome's incognito mode, which could imply that the outage was likely impacting Google accounts instead of the services themselves.

According to Google’s Workspace Status dashboard, services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, Groups, Hangouts, Chat, Meet, Vault, Currents, Forms, Cloud Search, Keep, Tasks, Voice, Admin Console, Analytics, App Maker, Google Maps, Blogger, Google Sync for mobile, and Classroom were affected by the outage.

Users from across the globe including India, Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Japan reported issues. They were unable to access the services all together.

YouTube along with other third-party services that rely on Google’s back-end services were impacted. Some users also reported the Assistant-enabled smart home devices were also affected, The Verge reported.

“We're aware of an ongoing issue with multiple products and our teams are investigating. Updates are being posted on the status dashboard,” Google tweeted from its official Google Workspace account.

Roughly an hour after the problems started, some users started to report Google services coming back online.

At 8:07 a.m., roughly 97 minutes into the service interruptions, Google tweeted that its services were "all clear."
