How to Pre-Order Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro

During Google's recent event in New York, the tech giant officially unveiled its newest smartphones, the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, alongside the eagerly awaited Pixel Watch 2 and upgraded Pixel Buds Pro.

While these announcements were somewhat expected due to Google's own "leaks" and teasers, the event shed light on exciting features and improvements.

Google Pixel 8 Highlights:

The Pixel 8 boasts a 6.2-inch OLED Actua display, a new addition to the Pixel series, offering enhanced brightness and clarity.

Although the screen is slightly smaller than the Pixel 7, it now supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits.

Despite its compact size, the Pixel 8's battery has been upgraded to a 4,485 mAh typical capacity, and it can charge rapidly, reaching 50% in just 30 minutes with Google's 30W USB-C 3.0 charger (not included).

Under the hood, the Pixel 8 is powered by Google's latest Tensor G3 chip, promising improved photo processing and spam call filtering.

It offers up to 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB. The device features a metal frame, a polished glass back, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for the display, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The camera setup includes a 10.5MP front camera and rear cameras with 50MP and 12MP lenses, enhanced by software improvements like Macro focus for close-ups and Best Take, which combines multiple group photos seamlessly.

In a sustainability effort, Google commits to providing seven years of OS upgrades, security updates, and new feature drops for the Pixel 8. Pricing starts at $699, and the color options include Hazel, Rose, and Obsidian. Pre-orders are open, with shipping scheduled for next week.

Google offers a free pair of Pixel Buds Pro or a $200 discount on the Pixel Watch 2 for pre-orders through its platform.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Highlights:

The Pixel 8 Pro aims to deliver the best Pixel camera experience yet, with a triple-lens setup featuring 50MP wide, 48MP ultrawide, and 48MP telephoto cameras, complete with a 5x optical zoom.

The device sports a 6.7-inch Super Actua LTPO OLED display with a dynamic 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of up to 2400 nits, and support for ultra HDR images. Its durability is reinforced by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Powered by the Tensor G3 chip, the Pixel 8 Pro introduces AI enhancements, including an improved Google Assistant capable of screen context understanding. It offers 12GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128GB to 1TB.

Unique to the Pixel 8 Pro is an infrared sensor that measures temperatures, even for objects like coffee cups or frying pans. Google has applied for FDA approval to use this feature for human temperature measurement. Like its sibling, the Pixel 8 Pro commits to seven years of software support.

Starting at $999, the Pixel 8 Pro is set to ship next week. Pre-orders through Google's official store come with the choice of a Pixel Watch 2 or revamped Pixel Buds Pro as a promotional bonus.

Google Pixel Watch 2:

Addressing concerns from the previous generation, Google aims to improve the Pixel Watch 2's battery life, promising 24 hours of usage even with the always-on display activated. The watch features a multi-path heart rate sensor, stress management tools, and safety features like Safety Check and Emergency Sharing.

Constructed from 100% recycled aluminum, the Pixel Watch 2 sports an AMOLED screen with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Fitness enthusiasts can access various features, with six months of the subscription-based service provided for free.

Expect more AI features in the Fitbit app later this year.

Priced at $349 for the Wi-Fi version and $399 for the cellular-enabled model, the Pixel Watch 2 offers cases in Black Aluminum, Polished Silver, or Champagne Gold, with various band colors. Shipping begins next week.

With Google's latest offerings, there's no shortage of options for tech enthusiasts looking to upgrade their devices. Pre-order now to be among the first to experience these cutting-edge gadgets.

Google also announced the new Fitbit Charge 6, available for pre-order at $160.
